The Federal Government has announced a salary upgrade for Nigerian graduate Nurses.
The National Council on Establishment disclosed the approval of the Nigerian graduate Nurses salary upgrade.

We learned that the decision was made at the 43rd annual NCE meeting in Abuja on January 24 and 28.
A copy of the communique confirmed this upgrade after the meeting.
“(The council) approved the review of the entry grade level of graduate Nurses from SGL 09 (CONHESS 08) to SGL10 (CONHESS 09).”
The Communique was co-signed by two health experts from different health departments.
They are:
- Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and Chairman of the NCE.
- Dr Emmanuel Meribole, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Head of Service of the Federation.
In a chat with PUNCH’s correspondent, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Mike Nnachi, applauded the initiative.

He said that the development is a good one for the students and old staff.
“It is a good one for the students and even for us. That’s what we have been fighting for and we are happy,” Nnachi said.
This meeting was a one-week long meeting. It was chaired by the Head of the Civil Service, Dr Yemi-Esan.
Heads of service from 34 states and the FCT also took part in the event.
Also, there were 423 delegates from the states, representatives of all the labour unions and health practitioners’ associations.

Another important discussed treated according to the communique was 24. Also, certainly established proposals were approved.
The other matter approved at the meeting includes the creation of the Dental Therapy Officer Cadre.
The DTOC was used to replace the Optometry Assistant Cadre. The reason is that the OAC was obsolete.
Also, there were similar obsolete units removed from the schemes of service.
