Expert Reveals Shocking Health Benefit Of Drinking Coffee And Tea

There is a study that suggests drinking coffee and tea lowers the risk of stroke and dementia.

The study was conducted by researchers at Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin, China.

Researchers said this was concluded after a recently conducted survey.

This study was conducted with 365,682 healthy individuals between the ages of 50 and 74. The survey was led by Yuan Zhang. The individuals used were recruited from the UK Biobank between 2006 and 2010. The participants were under assessment till 2020. The research also revealed that drinking coffee lowers the risk of post-stroke dementia.

According to the study published in PLOS Medicine, an online open-access journal, participants reported their intake of coffee and tea.

Out of the 365,682 participants, 5,079 participants developed dementia while 10,053 had a stroke.

At the end of the study in 2020, the researchers had these findings:

People who drank 3-5 cups of tea per day had a lower incidence of stroke or dementia.

People who drank 2-3 cups of coffee had a lower incidence of stroke or dementia.

A combination of both – had the lowest chances of stroke or dementia.

Persons who drank 2-3 cups of coffee and 2-3 cups of tea daily – 32 per cent lower risk of stroke.

Persons who drank 2-3 cups of coffee and 2-3 cups of tea daily – 28 per cent lower risk of dementia.

This percentage is against those who drank neither coffee nor tea.

The study concluded that the intake of coffee or in combination with tea resulted in a lower risk of post-stroke dementia.
