Medical health experts have said the lack of early morning erection could indicate erectile dysfunction.
The health experts have advised that men experiencing this should see a medical doctor.

The experts who are urologists said it is normal to not see a morning erection because it might have occurred during sleep. However, a consistent absence of early morning erection could indicate health problems.
What is Erectile dysfunction?
This is the inability to have an erection and keep it long enough for sexual intercourse. There are factors that cause erectile dysfunction and stress is one of them. However, when erectile dysfunction becomes frequent, it can be an indicator of a serious health problem. Experts advised that a person experiencing this should see a medical doctor for treatment.
One of the experts Professor Kehinde Tijani, a Professor of Surgery spoke with PUNCH HealthWise. He said that men should be concerned if their lack of early morning erection interferes with their sex life.
Also, he said that problems with coital activities and systemic problems involving blood vessels.
His words, “loss of early morning erection can be a pointer to potential problems with coital activities and even systemic problems involving blood vessels.
“It can be a guide on the state of erectile function of an individual, even though its relevance tends to be over-exaggerated.”

He added that “many normal men do not observe the early morning erection but have no problem with coital activities. The most important thing is to have a good erection during coital activities,” he stressed.
When to see a doctor
The Urologist said that when a man observes this lack of early morning erection consistently, he should seek help.
Another Urologist Dr Badmus Adeola also spoke on the consistent situation of early morning erection. He explained that a persistent absence of early morning erection could mean a serious health problem.
Adeola further advised that any man experiencing this should see a urologist.
The Urologist also said the history of lack of early morning erection can be used to know the type of erectile dysfunction a person is suffering from. Which he said could either be physiologic or organic erectile dysfunction.
Erectile dysfunction is a symptom of diseases such as:
- Coronary heart disease.
- Dyslipidaemia.
- Obesity.
- Hypertension.
“So, anybody with erectile dysfunction is usually screened for these health conditions. If any man notices absence or decline in his erection, he needs to visit the urologist,” he said.
