Lagos State recorded the highest number of COVID-19 in Nigeria cases. 14 states recorded about 428 new cases. This was the update released by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday, January 5.

The record of 21 COVID-19 related deaths reported on December 25 remains the highest in recent time.
Rivers State leads with a massive record of 188 new cases.
Ondo State follows with a distant record of 54 confirmed new cases.
The FCT follows with a record of 42 new cases.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control said these new cases increased the number of cases to 244,548.
The total number of deaths is currently 3,053.
Active cases: 24,681.
However, the NCDC reports a record of 216,814 COVID-19 patients who have recovered and have been discharged.

Again, the agency has lauded the activities of the National Emergency Operations Centre.
