The NCDC panics as COVID-19 patients on admission at isolation centres across Nigeria hit 12,547.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control recorded over 847.44 per cent in December.
Compared to November where Nigeria recorded 4,097 active cases on admission.
Health observers obtained this from the reopening of isolation centres in view of the surge.

From December 1 to 21 Nigeria had recorded at least 13,160 cases.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi said only five per cent of the State COVID-19 isolation facilities were in use.

The Commissioner gave a breakdown of the isolation facilities and capacity that is currently in use.
- Yaba IDH – 160-bed facility – 11 per cent is in use.
- Yaba IDH – 20-bed armour isolation facility – 40 per cent is in use.
- LASUTH, Ikeja – 24-bed isolation facility – 24 per cent is in use.
- Gbagada General Hospital – 110-bed isolation facility – 1 per cent is in use.
- LUTH, FMC Ebute Metta – 145-bed combined capacity – 0 per cent in use.
This was the update released by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health on December 21.
However, since the outbreak of the pandemic reached Nigeria in 2020, Lagos remains the worst-hit state.

The Lagos State currently has a total record of 89,355 cases with 8,539 active cases. The Centre of Excellence has so far recorded 757 COVID-19 related deaths.
On Wednesday, Nigeria recorded about 4035 new cases. Out of this number, Lagos recorded 3393 cases surpassing other states with over 500 per cent cases.
In another update, the Commissioner reports that about 2 million vaccines have been administered to Lagosians.
