The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) released this update on Tuesday, February 8.

The record of 21 COVID-19 related deaths reported on December 25, 2021, remains the highest in recent time.
Lagos State leads with a record of 16 new cases.
Rivers State follows with a close record of 12 confirmed new cases.
Cross River State follows with a close record of 8 new cases.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control said these new cases increased the number of cases to 253, 780.
The total number of deaths is currently 3,139.

However, the NCDC reports a record of 230,144 COVID-19 patients who have recovered and have been discharged.

Again, the agency has lauded the activities of the National Emergency Operations Centre.
It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre activated at Level 2 had coordinated the national response.
