In the latest health news in Nigeria, there have been six new additional COVID-19-related deaths in Nigeria. This brings the total number of deaths to 3047.
Lagos State recorded the highest number of COVID-19 in Nigeria cases. 11 states recorded about 670 new cases. This was the update released by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday, January 4.

The record of 21 COVID-19 related deaths reported on December 25 remains the highest in recent time.
Lagos State leads with a record of 277 new cases.
Kaduna State follows with a distant record of 199 confirmed new cases.
The FCT follows with a record of 120 new cases.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control said these new cases increased the number of cases to 244,140.
The total number of deaths is currently 3,045.
Active cases: 24,681.
However, the NCDC reports a record of 216,180 COVID-19 patients who have recovered and have been discharged.

Again, the agency has lauded the activities of the National Emergency Operations Centre.
It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre activated at Level 2 had coordinated the national response.
