NAFDAC has sanctioned 12 Pharmaceutical stores and sealed one outlet in Sokoto.
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, told newsmen on Thursday.

The Sokoto State Coordinator, Malam Garba Adamu, in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria said the store was sealed for selling unregistered products.
He also revealed that the sealed store violated distribution regulations. The Coordinator added that they had poorly stored medicines.
Garba further explained that the displayed drugs have been seized in the sanctioned stores. He also revealed that they got warning letters for infractions which included non-compliance with storage and distribution regulations.
At least 55 Pharmaceutical outlets in the state were sensitized to pharmaceutical trends. One of these trends is the use of “Medical Safety Mobile Applications”. This app is used for reporting adverse drug reactions. It is also used to track prescriptions and interests.

He said that NAFDAC collaborates with other organisations on improving the Med Safety Mobile App and other innovations.
Garba named ACPN among others as those organisations NAFDAC collaborates with.
His words, “NAFDAC in Sokoto partners associations and institutions to ensure the enlightenment and distribution of posters and fliers on the Med Safety Mobile App.
“We advise the public to always check for; i. NAFDAC registration number. ii. The expiratory date on products during sales. iii. Always report to NAFDAC any violations or reactions to any drugs.”
He urged all drugs distributors and sales outlets in the state to abide by the code of ethics of their profession.
Garba said that this exercise was a part of the routine checks of NAFDAC geared towards improving lives. He added that the goal was to safeguard the quality and sanity of products consumed by people.
“We receive complaints daily on the poor quality of some consumables stores and prevalence of related diseases, that is why we swung into action,” Adamu said.
The Coordinator reiterated NAFDAC’s commitment to protecting the health of people. He further appealed for the cooperation of the public for the success of this exercise.
The Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Sokoto State Chapter, Ibrahim Binji commended NAFDAC. He applauded the agency for taking steps to sanitise the drugs distribution network in the country.
