In the latest health news in Nigeria, there have been eight new additional COVID-19-related deaths in Nigeria. This brings the total number of deaths to 3066.

Lagos State recorded the highest number of COVID-19 in Nigeria cases. 14 states recorded about 791 new cases. This was the update released by the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday, January 7.

The record of 21 COVID-19 related deaths reported on December 25, 2021, remains the highest in recent time.

Lagos State leads with a high record of 523 new cases.

The FCT follows with a distant record of 84 confirmed new cases.

Oyo state follows with a record of 48 new cases.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control said these new cases increased the number of cases to 246,195.

The total number of deaths is currently 3,066.

Active cases: 25,099 (In view).

However, the NCDC reports a record of 217,509 COVID-19 patients who have recovered and have been discharged.

Again, the agency has lauded the activities of the National Emergency Operations Centre.

It added that a multi-sectoral National Emergency Operations Centre activated at Level 2 had coordinated the national response.
