Uproar As Eight Die Of Homemade Alcohol During Eid Festivities

In a dreadful update during the Eid celebration, at least eight persons died after drinking bootlegged liquor.

This was disclosed by a medical official in Hormozgan Province in Iran.

The medical official identified as Fatemah Norouzian confirmed the homemade alcohol.

Norouzian said that a total of 59 persons have died, according to a report by the state news agency IRNA.

“Eight people have died after drinking adulterated homemade alcohol in Bandar Abbas,” the agency quoted her to have said.

Drinking and selling alcohol is illegal in the Islamic middle-eastern state. This law corroborates with the Islamic ruling on alcohol.

However, the media in this region frequently reports deaths from the distribution of bootlegged liquor.

Norouzian also revealed that some persons are undergoing dialysis while others are in critical conditions.

Her words, “30 people are undergoing dialysis and 17 others are in critical condition in intensive care.”

Punitive Actions

The arrest of eight persons linked to the illegal distribution of alcohol was announced by the City Police.

Bandar Abbas Police Chief Teymour Dolatyari said that 1,278 litres of alcohol were found with the suspects.

“During a search of the suspects’ homes, police discovered 1,278 litres of alcohol,” Dolatyari said.
