A Gynaecologist has advised women to commence antenatal care as early as possible.
Dr Femi Olawore gave this advice on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
In a chat with NAN, fawoye said early antenatal prevents;
Pregnancy complications.
Maternal mortality.
Dr Olawore said that early antenatal prevent problems during pregnancy and childbirth. He added that early detection and management are also allowed.

His words:
“Pregnancy and childbirth are leading causes of death among Nigerian women. Antenatal care serves as a key entry point for pregnant women to receive adequate professional healthcare services for themselves and their unborn babies.
“Antenatal care is the medical attention provided to improve the health of the mother and unborn baby. The World Health Organisation recommends that antenatal care should start in the first trimester or 12 weeks of gestation.”

Dr Olawore stated that a lot of women in Nigeria do not have access to maternal care. He said that this leads to them delivering their babies in places that are not healthcare facilities.
