One Shocking Fact About Aftermath of COVID-19

A study has revealed one shocking aftermath of contracting the COVID-19 infection.

It said that persons who have had COVID-19 are exposed to blood clots for at least three months to six months.

The study which was conducted by BMJ medical journal confirmed a previous report on COVID-19 about the infection causing blood clots. But, this new report identifies the duration of the infection.

BMJ revealed that the study was conducted with at least one million people from Sweden who contracted the virus.

This study was carried out from February 2020 to May 2021. Over 4 million people who tested negative were also tested.

Those with COVID-19 had a higher risk of pulmonary embolism. According to this report, a blood clot affects the arteries to the lungs of COVID-19 patients.

There was another blood clot caused by the viral infection. It is deeply rooted in the vein and can cause thrombosis.

After thorough adjustments, they learned that 33 fold increase in the arteries. Also, there is a five-fold increase in thrombosis.

The study learned that people with serious COVID-19 symptoms were more at risk.

However, those with mild symptoms had high chances of deeply rooted thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

Effect of the COVID-19 Vaccine

The researchers said blood clotting was high in the early stages due to a lack of vaccines. According to them, the blood clotting dropped at the latter stages of COVID-19.

They applauded their finding due to its “major implication”. This suggests that they are now sure of blood clotting due to COVID. So, the researchers are calling for more treatment to reduce blood clotting. This is particularly to protect persons with high-risk cases.

They also said the research shows the importance of getting vaccinated.

Concluding, some researchers who were not a part of the study spoke about being alert.

They said, it “reminds us of the need to remain vigilant to the complications associated with even mild SARS-CoV-2 infection”
