A UK-based Nigeria health expert has revealed what a bleached spot on pants could suggest.

Dr Toluwani Binutu has encouraged women to embrace the bleached spot on their underwear.

According to him, this is a sign of a healthy vagina.

In a post on his Instagram page, he said the stain on the pant reveals the health of the vagina.

He said that women should embrace it as a norm.

His words:

“Sometimes women get worried when they notice their underwear has bleached spots on them.

“Some may even think that it means they have an infection down there. It is not true.

“Most times your normal vaginal discharge leaks to your undies and because vaginal discharge is acidic in nature, it interacts with the dye in your underwear and causes those ‘bleached’ areas.

“The bleached areas are proof that your vagina has a normal healthy pH level.

“The acidic nature of your vaginal discharge creates those bleached areas. It is a sign that you are healthy down there.”

A health portal, Health Shots, has confirmed that it is perfectly okay for the vaginal discharge to bleach your pants.

This is because the vaginal produces a natural PH value between 3.8 and 4.5. What this suggests is that the vaginal discharge is highly acidic and can cause discolouration on dark coloured panties.

The portal explained:

“A bleached patch in your underwear means that your vagina is healthy. A healthy vagina has a natural pH value between 3.8 and 4.5, which means it is largely acidic. No wonder, it leaves an orange patch behind when you send it over for laundry or put it in the washing machine.”

What causes the PH value to rise or fall?

According to the health portal increased and or balanced PH value is a result of;

  • Sex life.
  • Hormones.
  • Periods.

“A healthy vagina is acidic. It can produce large amounts of discharge. Sometimes, the pH levels can fluctuate because of a range of factors, including your hormones, sex life as well as periods.

“Sometimes, wearing light coloured undies might not make much of a difference because you won’t be able to see the bleached patch. But, put on black or dark-coloured underwear and you see it all! “
