Ondo Government Seals 15 Private Clinics, Days After Sealing Shoprite

Ondo State Government has sealed 15 clinics in their Southern Senatorial District. They sealed the clinics for violating health rules. The Department of Hospital Services of Ondo State Ministry of Health carried out the act. They did this during their monitoring and enforcement visits to the clinics. 

The team visited about 36 medical clinics in different southern areas of Ondo. These included Ore, Odigo, Iju-Odo, Ilutitun, and Okitipupa. During the visit, they sealed 15 medical clinics for violating the health rules. They had violated the rules and regulations guiding the operation of health facilities. They also arrested the operators of the medical clinics for operating unethically

Mrs Folukemi Aladenola, the Permanent Secretary of, Ministry of Health, explained the exercise. She stated that they performed it to ensure qualitative healthcare delivery in Ondo. It was also designed to eradicate any form of quack practice in the health sector. 

They also arrested the operators involved in the affected health facilities. She noted that the health ministry was sticking to the core agenda of the administration. The core agenda is in the 8-point development agenda. The agenda was code-named “REDEEMED.” It focuses on the efficient delivery of healthcare and social welfare services.

She assured that the administration would continue to prioritize its citizen’s health. She stated that there would be no compromise on the required standard set in the health sector. 

“The sealed facilities found to have violated the stipulated rules and regulations would remain sealed until the operators of such facilities are ready to comply.”

This is the latest effort by Ondo State to crack down on facilities that do not meet health standards. Earlier this week, the Government sealed the Shoprite building in Akure. The Government also sealed the Neighborhood market at NEPA in Akure. They sealed both places for their unhygienic and unsanitary practices. Before this, the Government had also sealed five malls within Akure for the same reason. These included; the Olukayode building, Arowolo Bookshop, NAO Supermarkets. Others were the Rainbow Furniture and the Salon Maga Store. Joining the list are the 15 clinics sealed for violating health rules.

Dr Ayodele Adelusi, the Director of Hospital Services in the Ministry and Leader of the monitoring team noted that the facilities would not be re-opened till they met their requirements. He also added that they would place security agents on the ground. This would ensure that the facilities remained closed.
