Lagos State has been listed as the second-highest with cases of HIV infections in South/West Nigeria.
To this end, the National Association of Seadogs, Alimosho have educated the people of Lagos.

This was in an effort to sensitize the members of the public in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
The event also dished out free counselling and free HIV screening.
The host of the event, Bola Shobowale who is also the Chairman Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area explained the importance of creating awareness about HIV.
She also appreciated NAS for the initiative on the sensitization of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
The chairman said, “I want to applaud NAS for the humanitarian initiative. They are always welcome and we support such programmes and partnerships aimed at strengthening healthcare awareness and solutions.”

The Lagos State Health Board also pulled their weight of support behind NAS’s initiative.
According to Vanguard, Dr Oyienami Eyimina-Otomi spoke to beneficiaries during the programme.
Dr Eyimina-Otomi, a medical practitioner spoke on the various modes of transmission and stages of the virus.
The Medical practitioner enlightened participants about safe sex. She also handed the participants condoms to encourage safe sex in the country.

It is important to note that the COVID-19 pandemic has suppressed the plight of people living with other diseases. This includes the HIV/AIDS.
A data released in 2020 revealed that Lagos State is the second most affected state with cases of HIV/AIDS in the South-Western region of Nigeria.
