Ikoyi Collapsed Building: NMA Swings Swiftly Into Action.
The Nigerian Medical Association has supported the bereaved of the Ikoyi building collapse.

The NMA set up an emergency helpdesk to support survivors and relatives of the Ikoyi building collapse.
A 21-storey building under construction on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi was reported to have collapsed on Monday, November 1.
So far, 32 dead bodies had been recovered with nine others rescued with injuries. Three survivors have been discharged,

The South-West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the numbers.
Also, the NMA Lagos boss, Dr Adetunji Adenekan, disclosed this to NAN on Friday in Lagos.
Adenekan spoke on the importance of responding to such a disaster. According to him, the survivors, the relatives, bereaved and rescuers needed mental health support. He explained that this would need more medical personnel.
He lamented the strain on the Lagos State’s health system from this incidence. Adenekan added that drastic measures be taken to fix the situation.

Adeneka also said that members of NEMA and Mental Health Committee had empathized with the survivors.
“For us as NMA, our duty is to ensure that our colleagues offer them adequate trauma support, and we are also providing mental health support to relatives of the victims of the collapsed building.
“The support will help families and other loved ones confront and overcome overwhelming feelings of grief, fear and anger,” he said.
He also commended the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Lagos State Government who had offered to oversee the treatment of the victims at the hospital.
Adenekan said that they are monitoring the situation keenly to prevent any official from derailing.
