Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has decried fears of sickness bug crippling the team ahead of Saturday.

The anticipated Premiership League game is against England Spurs, Leicester.

Arteta revealed that some of his squads have been affected by this bug and are struggling with their health.

Mikel Arteta’s-led Arsenal which maintains the 10th spot on the league table is not in the best of form.


The virus ruled out defender Pablo Mari from Tuesday’s League Cup match against Leeds. The coach also confirmed that this bug sickness forced centre-back, Ben White, off the game early.

Even England International White, who was contracted to join Arsenal in July for £50 million ($69 million) has not trained. Other players are also likely to miss the game at the King Power Stadium.

“It was a bit of sickness, tummy aches and stuff like that. Hopefully, everyone will be OK,” Arsenal manager Arteta said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.


“He (White) hasn’t trained yet so we will have to wait and see how he is feeling and make the decision then.

“A few have been unable to train and we also picked up some knocks in the game against Leeds. Hopefully, we will have better news.”

Guardian reported that the Gunners have recovered from their worst start to a league campaign in 67 years. They are eight matches unbeaten in all competitions.

What is a Sickness Bug?

Otherwise known as Gastroenteritis is a very common condition that causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

According to NHS Inform, It’s usually caused by a bacterial or viral tummy bug. It affects people of all ages but is particularly common in young children.


Most cases in children are caused by a virus called rotavirus.
