The medical council of Nigeria is set to probe three doctors over the death of Peju Ugboma.
Peju Ugboma was a Lagos-based chef who died on April 23. She died after a fibroid surgery at Premier Specialist Hospital located in Victoria Island, Lagos. Peju died at the age of 41.

Her husband, Ijoma Ugboma convened an investigative panel into her death.
According to the bereaved, the Lagos chef died of neglect by medical personnel after the surgery. They also alleged that she suffered internal bleeding after the surgery.
Also, the Lagos state police command had weighed in on the death of the pastry chef. They had invited officials of the health facilities for a “fact-finding inquiry” over her death.

Meanwhile, the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MDPCN) have intervened.
The MDPCN said it has filed a case of professional misconduct against three doctors at the hospital.
A letter assessed by TheCable Lifestyle revealed this claim. It also said that the MDPCN had concluded investigations into the circumstances that led to the death of Peju Ugboma.
The letter was signed by E. D. Abudu, the council’s secretary.
On October 28, the 10th session of the investigative panel confirmed the latest development into the case. The council said it had opened a case of professional misconduct against the doctors.

The embattled medical personnel are Akinseku Adeniyi Kazeem, Kelechi Kingsley Renner and Motunrayo Amadu.
The doctors have been referred to the Medical and Dental Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (MDPDT) for trial.
Earlier on, the hospital refused to respond to the media on questions related to the case. They excused the questions citing doctor-to-patient confidentiality.
