The Chinese Health Ministry announced the first human case of H3N8 on Tuesday.
The Chinese national health commission said a four-year-old boy tested positive for the strain of Avian flu.
The boy whose parents raised chicken at home got infected in Central Henan Province.
Multiple sources reveal that his town is largely dominated by ducks.
Health authorities urged calmness since there is a reduced risk of widespread transmission among people.

The symptoms of bird flu (Avian influenza) are:
- Fever.
- Cough.
- Headache.
- Sore throat.
- Muscle pain.
- Shortness of breath.
- Eye redness.
- High respiratory symptoms.
The boy was directly infected by a bird. The Health Commission revealed that “the ability to effectively infect humans” is less.
Also, tests of close contact with the boy showed no abnormalities.
The NHC said this case was a “one-off cross-species transmission, and the risk of large-scale transmission is low”.
People were also warned to avoid sick or dead birds to prevent this disease.
Health experts say that Avian Influenza occurs in Wild birds and poultry. They added that cases in humans are extremely rare.
The strains of bird flu responsible for human illnesses are;
- H5N1 was detected in 1997.
- H7N9 was detected in 2013.

The US centre for Disease in California said these two strains caused illnesses from Avian Influencers.
The WHO said human infection of zoonotic or animal-borne diseases is directly contracted through infected animals.
It said, human infections are “primarily acquired through direct contact with infected animals or contaminated environments, but do not result in the efficient transmission of these viruses between people.”
