COVID-19: 437 people have tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus in Nigeria today.
In the latest health news in Nigeria, the country has recorded 437 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, September 29.
This health news platform obtained from Health wise that the new cases of COVID-19 were in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control released this update. The health agency also reported six COVID-19 related death, in the latest health news in Nigeria.
This information can be verified on the official website of the NCDC on Thursday.
In this latest health update, Lagos recorded the highest number of new infections with 126 cases.

According to this latest health update, the new infection has increased the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 205,484.
A total of 193, 482 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the deadly coronavirus and have been discharged.
The NCDC confirmed that the recent COVID-19 related deaths to be six. These new cases have brought the statistics to 2,701.
The national response activities have added a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre. This has been activated at level 2.
Strains of COVID-19
When the COVID-19 outbreak started in Wuhan, China in December, the world was unprepared for the endemic which soon became a pandemic in the first quarter of 2020 till date.
Scientist have since been on their feet researching on all the genetic compounds that makes this virus deadlier than SARS.
Since July 2021, there have been four dominant variants of SARS-CoV-2 spreading among global populations:
1. The Alpha Variant (formerly called the UK Variant and officially referred to as B.1.1.7). It was first found in London and Kent.
2. The Beta Variant (formerly called the South Africa Variant and officially referred to as B.1.351).
3. The Gamma Variant (formerly called the Brazil Variant and officially referred to as P.1),
4. The Delta Variant (formerly called the India Variant and officially referred to as B.1.617.2).
In another report the Nigerian Government has called out Ghana for using fake COVID-19 test to defraud Nigerians in Ghana.
According to a report obtained from Daily Trust, the alarm was raised by a Senator. They are: Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe (APC, Kwara) in a motion co-sponsored by Senators Sadiq Umar (APC, Kwara), Chukwuka Utazi (PDP, Enugu), and Betty Apiafi (PDP, Rivers).
